Spirit Tree Estate Cidery invited the public to submit concepts for their limited edition Peachy Pear cider. With a wide-open brief, I began by researching the brand’s history, mission, and community to ground the design in their values. The resulting label system uses a heritage-inspired medallion, warm ingredient-driven colors, and a flexible structure designed to scale across future seasonal releases. The concept was selected as the winning design, became a customer favorite, and led to additional seasonal labels and tap handles.

Process

Given a wide-open brief, I began by researching Spirit Tree’s history and mission through articles, social media, and insights from regular customers. This revealed a brand deeply rooted in local community, sustainability, and natural, homegrown products with a loyal following. From there, I set out to create a label that honored these values while celebrating the heritage of the brand. I developed a color palette inspired by the cider’s ingredients, peach, pear, and apple, along with earthtones to evoke warmth and seasonality. For typography, I stayed aligned with the existing brand by using a serif typeface, while introducing Windsor, a rounded serif font that speaks to the artisanal nature of the seasonal lineup. I retained the '10-year' medallion to honor the brand’s legacy and designed the label as a scalable visual system, with future seasonal releases in mind.

Outcome

The result was a scalable design system for Spirit Tree’s seasonal cider line. My concept was selected as the winning design, becoming the face of the Peachy Pear cider, which was a strong success with customers and quickly became a seasonal favorite. This led to the development of additional autumn and winter seasonal labels, as well as a set of seasonal tap handles for Spirit Tree’s Caledon location that extended the identity into the physical space. This project marked a personal milestone, sparking a deep interest in CPG packaging design and providing hands-on experience translating brand values into compelling, market-ready consumer products.
